Five years ago, I met Gabby while photographing Jamie and Eric’s wedding in Ischia.
We didn’t see each other often after that. Life unfolded elsewhere, in different countries, different seasons, different chapters. Yet something remained.
Some people pass through your life briefly and leave behind a lasting sense of familiarity, as though the encounter continues long after the moment itself has ended.
This spring, Alessia and I travelled to the English countryside to photograph Gabby and Owen’s wedding.
Throughout the weekend, I couldn’t stop thinking about the invisible threads that bring people together.
The ones that survive distance and time. The ones that lead friends and family across oceans, and sometimes bring old connections back into view years later.
What I remember most from those days is the feeling that everyone had arrived there carrying their own story, their own path, their own sequence of chance events, and that for a brief moment all those paths met.
Alessia and I photographed the wedding together, moving through the celebration side by side, trying to stay close to what was unfolding rather than directing it.
These photographs are a trace of those days, and of the invisible threads that led everyone there.
